The Trust employs staff in all of the specialist areas covered by the Horniman: anthropology, musical instruments, natural history, the aquarium, gardens, education, conservation, documentation, collections management and library. In addition, we have staff providing other functions including Marketing, Development, IT,  HR, Finance, Facilities, Cleaning and Security and most importantly the service provided directly to the public by our Visitor Assistants.

The Trust has approximately 91 full time equivalent posts and the post-holders are located either in the main Museum or our Study Collections Centre, sited in Greenwich. In addition to these posts we regularly offer short term contracts where we have been successful in obtaining funding for specific projects. 

Volunteer and Placement Assistant

  • Fixed term until 1 July 2013
  • 24.5 hours per week – includes regular weekend working

We’re looking for a motivated, highly organised individual with excellent inter-personal skills to provide administrative support associated with the placement of volunteer opportunities across the Horniman Museum and Gardens.

The closing date for completed applications is 9.30am Thursday 24 May. Interviews will take place on Wednesday 30 May.

Learning Assistant

  • Fixed term until 31 March 2013
  • 21 Hours per week over 3 days

We’re looking for a motivated and organised Learning Assistant to support the Learning Department in the delivery of programmes, as well as other existing museum resources.

The closing date for completed applications is Monday 28 May at 12 noon. Interviews will take place on Thursday 7 June.

Learning Assistant

  • Fixed Term until 31 March 2015
  • Full time (35 hours per week)

We’re looking for a motivated and energetic Learning Assistant to support the Learning Department in the delivery of programmes to our diverse audiences.

The closing date for completed applications is Wednesday 6 June at 9am. Interviews will take place on Thursday 14 June.
